Steam Peeler Replacement Checklist
Replacing an aging steam peeler goes fastest when the right facts are on the table at the start. This checklist covers what to measure, photograph and decide before a Bigtem engineer configures a new DORUK or Gentle peeler for your line.

- Measure the footprint and connection heights; most replacements reuse the existing space.
- Know the steam pressure at the peeler, not just at the boiler.
- Book the shutdown window early and prepare connections ahead of it.
- Product and tonnage. Crops and varieties, raw tonnage per hour into the peeler, seasonal peaks, and the peel target.
- Current peeler. Manufacturer, vessel volume, year, cycle time, pressure used, finisher type, and known problems.
- Footprint. Floor space, feed height into the vessel, discharge height and direction, platform and stairs, column positions.
- Steam. Pressure available at the peeler, boiler capacity at peak, header size, exhaust route and condensate handling.
- Power and controls. Voltage (for example 480V/60Hz or 575V/60Hz), panel location, UL requirement, connection to the line PLC.
- Documents. The state or province of the plant, so the vessel documents match, and any local inspection requirements.
- Shutdown window. Dates the line can stop, and what must be ready beforehand (platform, utilities, controls).
- Photos and drawings. Photos of the peeler, platform, feed and discharge, plus any existing layout drawings.
