Drying equipment

Bigtem multi-zone belt dryer for vegetables and fruit

Continuous multi-zone belt dryer

Hot air circulates through product layers on a moving belt, with temperature and air flow set per zone. Modules can be added later.

Bigtem vibrating feeder with air knife for removing surface water

Vibrating dewatering feeder & air knife

Spreads product in an even layer, drains free water and blows off surface water.

Bigtem ambient air cooling conveyor with fan hoods

Ambient air cooling conveyor

Fans pull ambient air through the belt to cool product after drying or frying.

Drying questions

Dewatering or dehydrating?

Dewatering removes surface water after washing or blanching, for fresh-cut, IQF and fry lines. Dehydrating removes internal moisture to make shelf-stable dried products. Bigtem builds both.

Which products can be dried?

Onions, garlic, peppers, carrots, broccoli, herbs, tomatoes, apricots, figs and other fruit and vegetables, as well as nuts after hulling.

How is drying controlled?

Temperature, air flow and residence time are set per zone, so product dries evenly without scorching or case hardening.

Can a dryer be expanded later?

Yes. Multi-zone belt dryers are modular and zones can be added.
